The Tongue Can No Man Tame

One of the most convicting scriptures of the New Testament is found in James 3.  It speaks of the power of the words that we speak.  I am guilty myself of cursing people who were created in the image of God.  Verse 2 says “For in many things we offend all.  If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle (control) the whole body.”

Out of all the members of the body, the tongue is the most difficult to tame.  The only way that we can possible have any deliverance over  it is to pray before we speak.  Is what I am fixing to say going to hurt someone?  Remember once those evil words are spoken, they can not be retrieved again and much sadness can come of it.

It’s a process…taming your tongue.  With God’s help, I want Him to control the words that I speak.  To bless and not curse…to build up and not tear down.  With Jesus Christ’s help I will over come.
